Pesquera Yadran S.A. began in 1966 when the company was created with a capital of 100,000 chilean Escudos and a great outlook.
Two decades later, proving its entrepreneurial spirit, Yadran had become one of the pioneers in cultivation and subsequent process of Salmon and Trout, as well as one of the founders of the fledgling Association of Producers of Salmon and Trout in Chile. The following year, as a result, the first salmon harvest was obtained, with 15 tonnes of finished product.
During 1992, Pesquera Yadran S.A. begins a new stage in its history through the creation or modification of existing subsidiaries. The subsidiaries took charge of various production and commercial activities, including Yadran Quellón S.A. Located in Quellón, this subsidiary took over the plant processing operation. Thanks to these efforts towards the year 2002 Yadran produced 6,400 tons in sea water and1,880 million smolts in freshwater pisciculture.
In 2004 Yadran decided to abandon the production of canned products, and dedicate itself exclusively to the salmon industry. This initiative responds to the restrictions on the catch of species like abalone, clams, crab, hake, etc. and also to the evolution of the salmon farming, all within a grow plan framework.
Thus, fish farms are incorporated in the province of Palena, with expansion plans in the 10th Region. At the same time in April 2005 the new processing plant, Yadran Quellón, starts operating. It has the latest technology, capable of producing 80 thousand ton per year, providing a significant leap in the elaboration of salmon product with added value.
In 2006 and 2007,Yadran reaches an output of over 17,000 tons, operating in 12 centers in seawater, locating 80% of its production in the 10th Region.
The company’s consolidation has been possible thanks to different factors due in the first place, the efficient implementation of economic, technological and human resources; the application of modern administrative policies and an Integrated Management System, focused on generating safe and reliable products.
